Socialist Salvador Illa was sworn in yesterday as the 133rd president of the Generalitat (Catalan government). His appointment marks a change of cycle and leaves behind the process led by the leader of the separatist party Junts per Cataluña, which in 2017 carried out a failed attempt at independence.
