More than 73,000 people have been affected, of which 21,000 have been forced to leave their homes due to torrential rains that have been lashing 11 of Sudan’s 18 states for days, mainly the Red Sea and West Darfur, amid the armed conflict between the army and the Rapid Support paramilitary forces that is destroying the country. Meteorological authorities are warning of more rainfall in the coming days and are recommending that the population seek higher ground. Local sources have confirmed to Radio Dabanga that towns such as El Zahour, El Salam, El Taawon and El Buhaira have been devastated.
