Panamanian authorities have carried out the first repatriation flight of migrants to Colombia, as part of a program funded by the United States. The agreement with Washington for air repatriations to different countries was announced last month by Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino, with the promise of adopting strong measures against migration entering through the dangerous Darién jungle. An aircraft with 29 Colombian migrants, all in shackles (in the image), took off early yesterday morning from the Marcos A. Gelabert airport in the capital. The passengers have criminal records for different crimes committed in their country and were identified after undergoing a biometric process.
