Dozens of Afghan women took part in a protest yesterday with videos posted on the Internet in which they appear singing and showing a small part of their face, in rejection of a new law of the Taliban regime that establishes that their voices must not be heard in public. This ordinance was promulgated last week to promote virtue and prevent vicein accordance with the sharia (Islamic law). It consists of 35 articles with a series of obligations, mainly regarding dress, and the prohibition for women to sing or recite poetry in public. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice banned mixed martial arts, considering them incompatible with Islam. These measures have generated concern in the international community. The image, in Kandahar.
