Paris. Far-right leader Marine Le Pen on Monday urged French President Emmanuel Macron to hold referendums on issues such as immigration to break the political deadlock, a day after hundreds of thousands of people called by the left took to the streets to protest the appointment of conservative Prime Minister Michel Barnier.

National Rally, Le Pen’s party, will wholeheartedly support any approach aimed at giving people the power to decide directly on issues such as migration, health and security, said the leader from the northern city of Henin-Beaumont, a traditional bastion of the extreme right. She added that her party will not give the green light to the new government.

According to former presidential candidate Barnier at least he is aware about what Migration is a big problemIn fact, the Prime Minister has already made this issue one of the main themes of his campaign to try to be a candidate for the Elysée in the 2022 elections.

Last week, Macron appointed as prime minister the centre-right Michel Barnier, a 73-year-old former foreign minister who was also a negotiator for the Brexitafter the early elections in June and July that left Parliament without a majority.

The new prime minister has little support and depends on the National Rally, the party with the most seats in the new National Assembly.

The left-wing coalition Nine Popular Front is also increasing the pressure on Barnier.
