Colombian President Gustavo Petro yesterday called on the people to mobilize to condemn the coup d’état being planned against his government and to defend the country’s democracy and constitutionality, hours after he informed the public that he had received a document notifying him that he had been stripped of full constitutional immunity.

I do not accept that through a document from a consultation room of the Council of State that has no binding force, the National Electoral Council (CNE) has stripped me of constitutional immunity.the president denounced on social network X.

He added that the Colombian Constitution does not allow a purely administrative and political body to pave the way for suspending the president from his duties for an investigation into campaign financing limits over which it had no jurisdiction other than the 30 days following the election held in 2022.

The president pointed out that with votes from political enemies of the ruler in the CNE, and then in the Accusations Commission of the House of Representatives, they will seek to remove him without having committed any crime, and thus mock the popular vote of 2022.

The Colombian oligarchy, which never tires of milking the country and turning it into one of the most unequal and violent in the world, has decided to end the little democracy established in the 1991 Constitution and break its rules because they cannot stand a president on the side of the people and not on the side of their mafia and murderous maneuvers.he expressed on the social network.

He assured that the defeated in 2022 They are preparing a coup d’état against change in Colombia and the people’s vote and, in view of this situation, he stated that there is no other way than popular mobilization.

A mockery of the popular vote is answered by the people. I call on that sleeping giant, the Colombian people, its youth, its peasantry, its workers, its women… to mobilize in the streets against the coup d’état.Petro wrote.

On social media, he called for the mobilization of those who voted for him and also of those who did not, because, he stressed, a constitutional breakdown would only bring a mark of violence that would last for generations.

He added that he does not wish that for his tormented country. Petro recalled that for decades he has been fighting for a path of peaceful, reasoned and democratic transformations in favor of the people.

That is why the task of defending democracy is for all the people, whether or not they voted for me. Perhaps the irresponsible actions of the oligarchy will lead us to an even deeper path of transformation.the president declared.

Recently the progressive leader overcame a truckers’ strike that lasted several days and denounced on national television that he was interfered with software Israeli Pegasus in previous years as part of attempts to prevent him from becoming president.
