Caracas. The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela yesterday confirmed the issuance of an arrest warrant against Argentine President Javier Milei for the theft of a cargo plane confiscated in Buenos Aires and handed over to the United States, while a federal court in Argentina ordered the immediate arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello for alleged crimes against humanity committed against dissidents.

The measure, issued by a first instance court in Caracas and endorsed by the criminal cassation chamber of the TSJ, responds to a request made on the 18th by the Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, who requested an arrest warrant against Milei; Patricia Bullrich, Minister of Security, and Karina Milei, Secretary General of the Presidency. In accordance with the provisions of the substantive criminal regulations, the Court agreed to the request.the highest court said in a statement.

Milei and his ministers were accused of aggravated robbery, money laundering, simulation of punishable acts, unlawful deprivation of liberty, unlawful interference in the operational safety of civil aviation and use of aircraft and association.

Hours later, the first chamber of the federal court in Buenos Aires requested the arrest of Maduro and Cabello, finding them responsible for organizing a systematic plan to detain, kidnap and torture citizens in the country, which also affects thirty high-ranking officials, including members of the armed forces and security forces.

First Chamber judges Pablo Bertuzzi, Leopoldo Bruglia and Mariano Llorens also requested that Interpol be notified of the decision to request his international arrest.

Meanwhile, Maduro met with representatives of the Spanish company Repsol to advance in new cooperation agreements, in the midst of a diplomatic crisis with Madrid over the questioning of the re-election of the president and the recognition of opposition leader Edmundo González as the winner.

The president received José Carlos de Vicente Bravo, international exploration and production executive of Repsol, and Luis García Sánchez, director of the multinational in the Caribbean country, at the presidential palace in Miraflores.
