Tunisia. The outgoing head of state, Kais Saied, accused of authoritarian drift by civil society, won the presidential election in Tunisia yesterday with more than 89 percent of the vote, according to exit polls. Saied, 66, obtained 89.2 percent of the vote. The second candidate, the liberal Ayachi Zammel, 47, obtained 6.9 percent. The elections aroused little enthusiasm among the population, more concerned about their economic difficulties than about the authoritarian drift reported.
