Cuba will receive support from Russia to repair damage from Hurricane Rafael

Havana., Russia will send Cuba a donation of 80 thousand tons of diesel and equipment for 62 million dollars to support the energy sector, the island’s official media reported yesterday.

According to the official Prensa Latina agency, the initiative was delivered to President Miguel Díaz by the Russian Vice President, Dmitri Chernyshenko, who participated in a bilateral meeting, and was held by instructions of President Vladimir Putin.

Chernyshenko, who arrived in Cuba from Venezuela, added that through the Ministry of Emergency Situations, his country will also send repair teams for the affected energy equipment.

The day before, the island government thanked the numerous expressions of support and proposals for assistance from several countries to help compensate for the damage caused by the hurricane. Raphael.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, reported that his country received solidarity from Russia, China, Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela, as well as Caribbean nations, among others.
