Geneva. Women and children account for 70 percent of all verified Palestinian deaths in Gaza, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) warned, accusing Israel of failing to comply with the fundamental principles of humanitarian law.
Meanwhile, the offensive on the north of the strip prevents between 75,000 and 95,000 Palestinians from receiving items essential for their survival while Palestinian officials, witnesses and journalists accuse the Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu of intensifying a campaign of ethnic cleansing in this territory.
Of the 43,400 deaths recorded by Palestinian authorities since the start of the offensive in October 2023, about 80 percent occurred in residential buildings, and the majority of children who lost their lives were between five and nine years old.
The United Nations also expressed concern about the possible use of white phosphorus against the Gazan population. It is an incendiary material that is difficult to extinguish, adheres to skin and clothing, is harmful to people through all routes of exposure and can cause deep burns even through the bones. White phosphorus can ignite during treatment due to contact with oxygen, so medical personnel should use caution when caring for victims.
According to the United Nations, the Israeli authorities would place the end of the conflict in the complete destruction of Gaza and the exodus of the Palestinian peoplesaid the head of the OHCHR, Volker Turk, who called for a due reckoning before the horrendous violations that are taking place on the strip.
The report states that on October 7, 2023, Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups will also committed serious violations of international law by carrying out attacks against Israeli and foreign civiliansacts that could constitute war crimes.
The rules of war, in force for more than 160 years, limit and prevent human suffering in times of armed conflict Turk stressed, adding that it is inconceivable that the parties to the conflict refuse to apply universally accepted and developed norms to preserve an indispensable minimum of humanity.
Fifty victims
Tel Aviv’s attacks on Gaza and Lebanon left almost fifty victims. In the north of the territory, nearly 30 Palestinians were killed in the Jabaliya refugee camp. While at the Kamal Adwan hospital, under Israeli siege several weeks ago, many of the injured are dying due to lack of medicine and suppliesdeclared medical director Hussam Abu Safia.
When I sleep at night, I ask God to die, and when I wake up in the morning, it hurts to know that I am still alivedeclared a Palestinian when narrating his daily life to the newspaper Maariv. Originally from Gaza City, the interviewee is now taking refuge in a tent in Khan Younis, south of the enclave. You cannot turn freely in your sleep, or even stand up. If you want to go to the bathroom, you may accidentally step on your child’s leg or even their stomach.he added.
The Israeli authorities confirmed preparations for the opening of the Kissufim border crossing, in the center of the strip, to expand the entry of humanitarian aid.
Meanwhile, in Lebanon, attacks carried out by the Israel Defense Forces left at least 15 dead and 69 injured in the 24 hours prior to the report.
Dahieh, a southern Beirut suburb, was targeted by 11 airstrikes yesterday; while in the border town of Aitaroun, the Israeli army reported six dead and 16 wounded among its ranks, after the battle against members of Hezbollah.
Lebanese authorities reported yesterday that at least 3,100 people were killed by Israeli fire and almost 13,900 were wounded over the course of a year.
Meanwhile, Ali Lariyani, advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that with the expected response instinctive against Israel for the October bombings against Iranian territory They seek to drag Iran into the conflictand commented that Tehran’s response must be totally rational.
