Caracas. Former Venezuelan deputy for the Democratic Action party, Carlos Prosperi, has gone from being an opposition leader to supporting President Nicolás Maduro, while denouncing the corruption of a group of his former coreligionists.

Prosperi yesterday showed evidence of what he called a simple and vulgar theft and asked the prosecutor’s office and the United States government authorities to investigate the misappropriation of the country’s resources.

The politician, who was also a pre-candidate in the opposition bloc’s primaries for the presidential elections, showed documents showing transfers made to him, when he had already ceased his functions in the National Assembly (Parliament), once his term had ended, without specifying the reason but he assured that he rejected them.

Speaking to the press, Prosperi denounced a corruption scheme that, he said, served to enrich a small group. The former opposition member accused that these irregularities were committed using the name of Parliament and asked himself: How can they carry out these types of transactions?.

In addition, the legislator asked Attorney General Tarek William Saab, the authorities and the US government, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), to begin an investigation into the embezzlement committed, the serious damage to Venezuela and the illicit enrichment of a small group that benefits from the people.

In this context, the 46-year-old politician said that the only one who can maintain peace in Venezuela, guarantee economic growth and dialogue with all parties, is President Nicolás Maduro.

He emphasized that he took the firm decision in a categorical manner to support the official candidate so that can continue to guarantee peace and tranquility to our Venezuelan brothers.

He also stated that he supports the head of state with the proposal to call for a great national dialogue immediately after being elected, which he estimated reconciles definitively to all his compatriots.

Prosperi called on the Venezuelan president to form a government of national unity, in which all Venezuelans can contribute a grain of sand to be able to return the future, prosperity, freedom once and for all, to each of the fellow countrymen..

The plan of some small people is to generate violence, which, he said, We cannot accept it because we all want to live in peace and tranquility..

Carlos Prosperi of the opposition declared himself independent, strongly criticizing the extremist right, denouncing the corruption of (Juan) Guaidó and all those people and the plans for violence and guarimbadeclared the president of Venezuela, according to the news outlet Telesur.
