Tel Aviv, Yemen – Yemen’s Houthis claimed to have carried out two military operations yesterday, one in the Gulf of Aden and another in Eilat, in the far south of Israel. Their military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said that they attacked the Israeli ship MSC Unific Houthi militants have attacked the Gulf of Aden with ballistic missiles and drones, as well as military targets in Eilat. No incoming missile alarms sounded in Eilat, nor did the Israel Defense Forces report the launching of any missiles. The rebel group often makes unsubstantiated claims about its warlike activity and also describes ships as Israeli when they are not. According to tracking sites, the vessel was under the Liberian flag, but its ownership is unclear. The Houthi spokesman said the latest operations came in response to an Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis on Saturday, which killed at least 90 Palestinians and wounded 300 others, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. Since November, the Iran-aligned Houthi group has attacked shipping lanes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. In dozens of offensives, the Houthis have sunk two ships, captured another and killed at least three sailors.
