“Today the Netanyahu government approved a resolution to sanction Haaretzsuspending any state advertising, state-funded subscriptions or any other ‘connection’ with the newspaper. We will not be dissuaded,” Landau stated before sending a warning message to his colleagues in other media.
To all my colleagues who remain silent today in the face of the illegal sanctions that have just been imposed on us: do not be surprised when your day comeshe sentenced.
The editor of HaaretzAmos Schocken, faced new reactions after a newly revealed speech in which he referred to those whom the Israeli government describes as terrorists Palestinians like freedom fighters and called for sanctions against Israeli leaders and settlers, reported The Jerusalem Post.
The speech, delivered at a conference organized by the New Israel Fund and the Berl Katznelson Foundation on October 8 in Israel, was revealed by Channel 14 through the New Israel Fund’s YouTube channel.
Schocken stated that “the Netanyahu government wants to continue and expand illegal settlements in the territories that were destined for a Palestinian state. He doesn’t mind imposing a cruel regime of apartheid to the Palestinian population. It dismisses the costs both sides must pay for defending the settlements while fighting Palestinian freedom fighters, whom Israel calls terrorists.”
He further argued that It is necessary to establish a Palestinian state and the only way to achieve this is by applying sanctions against the Israeli leaders and settlers in the occupied territories.
In another matter, Netanyahu’s legal team requested a 15-day postponement for the start of his testimony in his current criminal trial, scheduled for December 2, for accepting bribes, fraud and breach of trust.
