At least 40 homes were flooded by a mudslide in a neighborhood on the slopes of La Paz (in the image), early yesterday morning, as a result of the first rains after long months of drought in Bolivia. Rescue teams were searching for a 5-year-old girl in the rubble, authorities reported. Six people were pulled from the mud with hypothermia, although they were out of danger. The rains overflowed a river that washed away mud accumulated in illegal constructions in the upper parts of the hill, reported the mayor of La Paz, Iván Arias.
