Peace. The former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, lost a new legal battle that leaves him out of next year’s presidential race, after the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) recognized Groover García – akin to President Luis Arce – as the legitimate head of the ruler Movement to Socialism (MAS).
García reported that he was notified yesterday of the TSE’s decision, which thus endorsed a ruling by the Constitutional Court from mid-November.
The resolution puts an end to a legal dispute over the acronym of the party that Morales founded in 1997 with the support of the coca growers unions.
García declared that the TSE does justice to the social and union organizations that are recovering the party from the hands of a single personin reference to Morales.
We are going to wait for the TSE to officially notify us to announce the measures we will take, but this is a political genocideanticipated Morales’ lawyer, Cecilia Urquieta.
García is now the only one authorized to register the MAS presidential candidate for the August 2025 elections. The ruling is a political victory for Arce against Morales, with whom he has a long dispute that has taken to the streets. and to the courts, in the search to control the party apparatus in view of the next elections.
