Berlin. MP Alice Weidel will lead the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) as a candidate for chancellor in the next federal elections. According to the participants, the AfD’s federal executive committee and the party’s regional presidents decided to nominate Weidel, 45, unanimously in Berlin. Today is a great day for the game and a great day for Germanysaid Weidel in a press conference together with his co-president, Tino Chrupalla. Weidel will be confirmed at a party congress in January. It is the first time in 12 years of history that the party has named a woman candidate. Weidel challenges the far-right narrative, as she is a West German professional who has raised two children with a Sri Lankan-born woman, speaks fluent Mandarin, and holds a doctorate in Chinese economics.
