Cairo. Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip killed at least 19 Palestinians overnight and Tuesday, according to medics, as Israeli tanks poured into the center and south of the enclave.
Overnight, an Israeli airstrike killed at least 10 people in Beit Hanun in northern Gaza, where Israeli forces have operated since October, and injured dozens of people in a multi-story building, doctors said.
Another bombing of a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip killed at least seven people. Doctors and the Palestinian Civil Emergency Service said several people were injured, while another attack killed two people in Rafah, in the south of the enclave.
In the central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah, Israeli naval forces detained six Palestinian fishermen who were trying to sail to the Mediterranean Sea early Tuesday, residents charged.
In Brussels, the International Federation of Journalists reported that 104 media workers have been killed in 2024, more than half during the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The group indicated that since the start of the war, on October 7, 2023, at least 138 journalists had been killed, including 55 Palestinian media professionals.
More than 44,700 Palestinians have died in the subsequent Israeli offensive on Gaza, Gazan health authorities reported.
Tel Aviv launched this war after Hamas fighters killed about 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages to Gaza, according to Israeli counts.
