kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky reiterated that Russia began deploying North Korean soldiers to assault positions of its troops in the Kursk region, in a new statement on the matter.

A few months ago, the president stated that Moscow was gathering troops from Pyongyang to regain control of the areas occupied by the Ukrainian army after a surprise offensive carried out by kyiv in early August. A few weeks ago, the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, estimated that about 10,000 US troops were in Kursk.

South Korean officials and a private agency claimed last month that Moscow provided Pyongyang with fuel, anti-aircraft missiles and economic aid in exchange for these troops.

On the front, after the massive bombing launched the day before by Moscow against an important power plant, kyiv responded to the aggression with an attack directed at an oil site in the Oryol region, causing a large fire in a station.

The Ukrainian General Staff claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, in which it stated that the country’s forces attacked this site about 165 kilometers from its border.

It is one of the largest oil terminals on the outskirts of said city, which is part of the military and industrial complex that supplies the Russian army, he noted.

The Russian governor of Oryol, Andrei Klichkov, confirmed the fire after the offensive, and added that the anti-aircraft defenses hit 11 enemy drones, that the fire was under control; no victims were reported.

Meanwhile, another Ukrainian drone strike in southern Russia killed a 9-year-old boy after a hit on his family home on the outskirts of Belgorod, a Russian city near the border; His mother and seven-month-old sister were hospitalized, the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said.
