Washington. President Joe Biden yesterday criticized a Texas judge’s ruling that temporarily suspended a program that simplifies the regularization of immigrants married to Americans.

In mid-June, the Democratic president simplified the process for migrants married to Americans and their children to obtain a residence permit – the famous green card – without having to leave the country to apply for it.

But on Monday, federal judge Campbell Barker in Tyler, Texas, upheld a lawsuit by 16 Republican-led states seeking to halt the program.

That decision is wrong. These families should not be separated and my administration will not stop fighting for them.Biden said in a statement.

The ruling prevents the government from processing applications now, but it can continue to accept them and does not affect those approved since registration opened a week ago, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said.

Biden’s program would benefit spouses who have been living in the country for at least 10 years and makes it easier to apply for a work permit and apply for citizenship.

In the statement, Biden assured that the program does not modify immigration requirements.

The only thing I made possible was for these long-term residents to submit the documentation here.he argues.

Irregular migration has become a major issue in the November 5 elections between Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and former Republican President Donald Trump.

Republicans accuse Biden of not doing enough to stem the influx of migrants, while the Democrat says he does not engage in politics on the issue and blames Trump for sabotaging a bipartisan attempt to find a solution.

I’m not interested in playing politics with the border or immigration, I’m interested in solving problems, nor am I interested in separating families.the president insisted.

Trump has promised the largest deportation of migrants in history on his first day in office if he wins the elections, and close the border with Mexico.
