Washington. US President Joe Biden will use the final months of his term to strengthen Ukraine against Russia, his National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced yesterday.
Biden is determined to use these four months to put Ukraine in the best possible position to prevailSullivan said, adding that the president will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, at the end of the month during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
President Zelensky said that ultimately this war has to end through negotiations and we need (the Ukrainians) to be strong at that stage.Sullivan said in a video address at a conference organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
Sullivan said the United States also planned to prepare a support package substantial with various capabilities by the end of the month, in an effort to prevent a significant Russian advance in eastern Ukraine.
kyiv has taken bold and firm steps in the war. But the area around Pokrovsk is of particular concern.Sullivan said, referring to this logistics hub from which Moscow’s forces are located 10 kilometers away.
NATO’s Military Committee chief Robert Bauer has said that he believes it is justified from a military point of view to allow Ukraine to attack Russia with Western long-range weapons.
According to the provisions of an armed conflict, any country offended in terms of war has the right to legitimate defense. This is not limited to the borders of a given country (…) Therefore, from a military point of view, there are compelling reasons to do so. In order to weaken the adversary, his logistics, the supply of fuel to the front and ammunition, this must be suspended whenever possible.Bauer said.
