Bonnie Tyler to give free concert in Madeira in August

Music This will be the debut of the voice of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” on the island. The lineup for the Festas de São Vicente also includes national names.

Bonnie Tyler, one of Wales’ most iconic artists, is headlining the Festas de São Vicente in Madeira. This year’s edition of the festivities, which attract thousands of people to the north coast of the island, will take place between 17 and 25 August.

The singer of songs such as “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, “Holding Out for a Hero” and “It’s a Heartache” will perform on August 22. The free concert will start at 10:30 pm.

The 73-year-old Welshwoman— who Learned swimming in the Algarve during lockdown — he has a career spanning half a century, during which he has performed in countless countries and sold more than 20 million records.

With her unmistakable husky voice, she has won awards such as Best International Female Pop/Rock Artist, three Golden Europa Awards and the ESC Radio Awards for Best Song and Best Female Singer. After the summer, Bonnie Tyler will give two more concerts in Portugal: at the Coliseu de Lisboa on October 30th and at the Coliseu Porto Ageas on November 1st. Tickets for the first one cost between €45 and €80 and can be purchased at online. The same happens to the north, with reservations from €50 to €75.

Regarding the Madeiran festival, the Festas de São Vicente, the lineup also includes national names, such as Syro, author of the hit “Perto de mim” (performing on August 20), Valas (21st), Slow J (23rd), Carolina de Deus and Padre Guilherme (24th).

The festivities kick off with a 4×4 trial race, with jeeps, on a route with several obstacles, including the water of the local stream. The venue also has typical food and drink stalls, with plenty of poncha and bolo do caco. Entertainment throughout the night will be provided by several DJs.
