Beijing. China yesterday condemned the approval of a US arms sale to Taiwan, for 385 million dollars, and rejected a scale that the Taiwanese president, Lai Ching-te, did in Hawaii.

The Pentagon announced this weekend that the State Department approved the sale.

US arms sales to China’s Taiwan region violate the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, especially that of August 17, 1982, as well as China’s sovereignty and security interests.said the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The sales are a serious violation of international law, send a profoundly wrong signal to Taiwanese separatist forces, and are detrimental to Sino-US relations and stability across the Taiwan Strait.assured the foreign ministry and added that the decision to sell weapons to the island is simply inconsistent with US leaders’ commitment not to support Taiwanese independence.

The spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Binhua, repudiated the scale of Lai Ching-te in the United States, within the framework of a tour of the so-called diplomatic allies in the Pacific.
