Beijing. Yesterday China deployed naval and air forces to track, monitor and issue warnings to a US Navy plane that crossed the Taiwan Strait; It is the first aircraft of this type that, in two months, flies over the area that China considers under its jurisdiction. Beijing accused Washington of seeking cheat to the international community.
The US Navy’s Seventh Fleet indicated in a statement that it was a plane P-8 Poseidon the one that passed through the area yesterday. By operating within the Taiwan Strait, in accordance with international law, the United States defends the navigational rights and freedoms of all nations.
Beijing responded indeed to the situation, said Colonel Cao Jun, spokesman for the Eastern Theater of Operations Command of the People’s Liberation Army, considered the main operational force against Taiwan, Japan and any security conflict in the East China Sea.
Cao accused the White House of making statements that distort legal principles and seek to mislead international public opinion.
