Buenos Aires. Former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner said yesterday that the so-called judicial district protects those directly responsible for the attack he suffered on September 1, 2022, by testifying as a witness in the trial for the attempted murder he suffered, when a man pointed a gun at him and fired it twice just a few centimeters from his head, but the bullet jammed.
Fernández de Kirchner listed the acts of violence she had previously suffered without the police taking appropriate action, in a hearing in which the three direct defendants were present in the courtroom: Fernando Sabag, his ex-girlfriend Brenda Uriarte and Nicolás Carrizo, but not those responsible and those who financed the foiled attack.
She was accompanied by figures from Peronism such as the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, senators, deputies, mayors and important leaders, and other personalities, among them the Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, and hundreds of protesters awaited her outside.
Fernández de Kirchner, who was vice president when she suffered the attack, pointed to the so-called judicial districtwhich brings together judges and prosecutors who joined together during the government of right-wing Mauricio Macri in the acts of violence, something in which the United States embassy also intervened.
“The ‘judicial party’, in conjunction with the hegemonic media, were fundamental factors in the exacerbation of violence. Today there are no military coups. The methodology has changed. In times of hatred and networks, it is no longer necessary to disappear or kill anyone, although in some cases it seems that it is. What articulates all this is concentrated economic power,” Fernández accused.
Previous assaults
Among the attacks he suffered, he recalled the case in which With so much police surveillance in Congress, nobody did anything when they attacked her office as president of the Senate with huge stones thrown at her for 30 minutes and destroyed everything.
Violence was also exercised by installing a fence around the building where she lived. Even the day her son, the deputy Máximo Kirchner, arrived, they tried to prevent him from entering and beat him. She showed the covers of magazines and newspapers that reported on this violence, among them The Day.
He described it as disaster the investigation phase of the case in charge of Judge María Eugenia Capuchetti, whom she mentioned as part of the judicial district.
She explained how she did not realize what had happened on the day of the attack while she was picking up a book that she had dropped. I felt like I was being taken inside. Then, already in his apartment, I saw the image that went around the world.
The former president considered that There is a double victimization. First, I had to prove that it was not my fault that they wanted to kill me. Second, the invisibility of all this processingin which There are the material authors, but not the intellectuals or the financiers, beyond all the evidence that was attached..
On the other hand, the government of Javier Milei ordered by decree to eliminate the special investigation unit of the disappearance of children during the last military dictatorship, which was part of the National Commission for the Right to Identity (Conadi), arguing that this body violates the right to privacyinvade competencies of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and affects the division of powers.
This is a regulation approved during the government of former President Néstor Kirchner that made it possible to find more than a hundred children who were taken from their parents, thanks to the work of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, recognized throughout the world. The unit had broad scope to achieve what is still in place today and it violates and weakens the human rights organizations that this government is trying to eliminate.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported that one million Argentine children go to bed without dinner and one and a half million minors skip a meal during the day because their parents do not have the money to buy it.
According to UNICEF, poverty among the child population has risen to very high levels.
Alberto Fernandez charged
At this moment, the press is trying to cover up the main events by constantly giving space to the complaints that Fabiola Yáñez filed from Spain for gender violence, telephone extortion and threats against her ex-partner, former president Alberto Fernández, who has denied the accusations.
In just two or three days, Judge Julian Ercolini, a member of the judicial districtaccused the former president, while Yáñez’s accusation grows day by day. A fierce and brutal press campaign darkens the panorama, and also ends up complicating the accusation itself.
