Elections in South Sudan postponed

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has extended the transition period in the country for two more years and postponed this year’s elections to December 2026, according to a presidential statement issued yesterday. National Security Adviser Tut Gatluak explained that it will be an opportunity to resolve the conflict in South Sudan, including the adoption of a permanent constitution.
