France demands Israel's departure from the Golan Heights

Paris. France demanded that Israel abandon the Golan Heights and respect the territorial integrity of Syria, in addition to reiterating its full support for the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in the Golan Heights. whose security must be preservedThe Foreign Ministry reported yesterday in a statement.

The French Foreign Ministry recalled that according to the UN, any military deployment in the separation zone between Israel and Syria constitutes a violation of the 1974 withdrawal agreement, which must be respected by its signatories, Tel Aviv and Damascus.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock declared that Israel and Turkey must not jeopardize the process for a unified government and territorial integrity that guarantee a stable future for Syria, in which all people, regardless of ethnic or religious origin, can live together.

Baerbock added that a special coordinator for Syria had been appointed with the aim of increasing Germany’s diplomatic presence in that country.

Russia says it wants to see Syria stabilize as soon as possibleand minimized the damage caused to Russian influence in the Middle East by the fall of its ally Al Assad.

Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov added that he hopes to reach mutual understanding with Damascus on the status of Russian military facilities in the country, and clarified that his attention is focused on Ukraine, while Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei , expressed that the events that led to the overthrow of the Syrian ruler are the result of a joint plan by Washington and Tel Aviv.

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, will travel to Jordan and Turkey to address the conflict and other open fronts, the State Department announced, adding that the diplomat will meet today with the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, in the port city of Aqaba, before flying to Ankara.
