Washington and New York. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris led a massive rally at the so-called Ellipse, next to the White House, where she emphasized two central themes of the campaign: the integrity of the democratic system and the economy, while her opponent traveled to the key state of Pennsylvania to continue with his argument that only he can compose to the United States and save it from the hands of Comrade Kamala and the immigrant invasion.

Harris offered, in front of what her campaign said were 50,000 supporters, what she called a closing argument –in reference to his years as a prosecutor and the presentation at the conclusion of a trial– after present the evidence for months about why it is time to turn the page to Trump and chart a new path forward. He said the choice in this election is between a country based on freedom or a country ruled by chaos and division.

The location of the event was selected since it was here that Trump urged his fans on January 6, 2021 to go to the Capitol, which was later stormed, an unprecedented event in this country, with the intention of stopping the certification of the presidential election that he had lost (but that to this day he refuses to acknowledge) in what some call an attempted coup d’état. Against the backdrop of the White House and overlooking some of the national monuments in the capital, Harris recalled Trump’s act that day and declared that he now “intends to employ the armed forces of the United States against American citizens who They simply disagree with him, people he calls ‘the enemy within.’ He stressed: “that’s who he is… but that’s not who we are.” The country, he added, did not go through all the struggles of its history only to return to submit to a little tyrant.

Harris stated that she represents a new generation of leadership; Perhaps that is why Joe Biden was also absent, even though the event took place in the park behind his house. He reiterated his biography and his proposals for the future for the benefit of the majority.

It was notable that he stated that we are a nation of immigrants and committed to promoting immigration reform with a path to citizenship for some migrant sectors, although he insisted that he will return those who cross irregularly.

At the same time, he assured: I will not surrender America’s global leadership and warned that forever This country will remain the champion of freedom.

For his part, Trump repeated during the last 48 hours that he is not a fascist, that he is the opposite of a nazi. He accused in his daily messages issued by his campaign that “Comrade Kamala spends the days of her horrible faded campaign… attacking the most beautiful movement in American history, MAGA.” At a press conference and later at a rally in Pennsylvania he returned to his favorite topics about the criminal immigrantsoffering examples of families who have been victims of crimes committed by illegaland even accused that Harris and the Biden government are accomplices in the deaths of some of these victims for letting free these monsters in our country.

He announced a proposal in which he promises to confiscate the assets of criminal gangs and drug cartels in order to use those assets in a compensation fund for victims of migrant crime. He claimed that Harris and the Biden administration have destroyed the country, which she promotes a message of hate and divisionwhile My message is about saving our economy, securing our border, and assembling the largest, broadest coalition in history. American, thus reversing the message that the Democrats have used against him. He repeated what is now a new slogan: She broke it, I’m going to fix it.

On the day of his rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania – in an indication of how worrying and volatile the election environment is – public schools canceled classes and closed out of abundance of caution.

Meanwhile, both parties have deployed their vice-presidential candidates, political leaders and figures from the entertainment world around the country, but above all focused on the seven states considered keys and that will probably determine the final result of the national election.

Nobody dares to make a prediction

Among the whirlwind of surveys, the noise of the commentators, the parade of experts and the stars in this aberrant election full of apocalyptic warnings about what awaits the country, no one dares to predict the future beyond the fact that it could be volatile, violent and under threat of a possible fascist project.

As if to prove that it is apparently not unusual to feel crazy in this American situation, a message from the Weill Cornell hospital complex in New York offers a podcast of a conversation between two doctors about how to manage the stress generated by this election by exploring the intersection between mental health and politics.
