Washington. The campaign team of US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is slightly ahead of Donald Trump, launched the Republicans for Harris movement yesterday to win over voters of that party disappointed by the tycoon’s candidacy.

A CBS poll found that 50 percent would support the current vice president on November 5, compared to 49 percent for Trump.

The difference is within the margin of error, but it reflects the momentum that Harris’ campaign has gained, as she replaced President Joe Biden in the race for the White House on July 21.

The current president, who decided not to run for re-election due to concerns about his age and health, remained clearly behind Trump in the polls.

Harris has her best results among women and also among black voters.

The vice president is expected to announce her running mate for the Democratic Party today or tomorrow, with whom she will immediately set out on a tour of seven key states.

According to political analysts, she is leaning towards a white man in order to broaden her base and compensate for certain weak points in her campaign.

The names most cited by the press are: Mark Kelly, senator from Arizona; Josh Shapiro, governor of the key state of Pennsylvania; and Tim Walz, the little-known governor of Minnesota.

Republicans for Harris will be a campaign within a campaignaccording to the team of the virtual Democratic candidate, and will resort to well-known Republicans to activate their networks, with particular emphasis on the voters of the primary election who supported the former US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley.

The program will kick off this week in Arizona, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Republicans supporting Harris will also appear next week at rallies with the vice president and her running mate.

Harris’ team shared details of the program with The Associated Press before making the official announcement.
