Insecurity crisis in Chile

A bloody weekend that left 19 people dead by homicide in the Chilean capital, Santiago, and at least a dozen injured of varying severity, precipitated the worsening of the insecurity crisis to the point that sectors of the government itself are demanding the government declare a state of siege to militarize the city. The crimes, all with firearms, were committed in different sectors between Friday and dawn on Tuesday.
