Buenos Aires, For the first time in the history of the National Congress, the Senate rejected, early yesterday morning, a decree of necessity and urgency (DNU), which granted 100 billion pesos for reserved funds to the State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE), by 49 votes against 11; then it had to listen to former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who questioned the government’s economic policy and asked for a change, stating: Look, Mr. President, get rid of Milton Friedman, get rid of the Austrian school, take the Argentine manual and, please, sit down to manage the country..
Yesterday, the former president, who has recently appeared on the political scene despite the constant threats she receives, gave a keynote speech invited by the Universidad del Oeste, in the popular municipality of Merlo, in the Buenos Aires suburbs. Thousands of people came to the place to listen to her and applauded her when she came out to greet the crowd that cheered her and asked her to run for president again.
The governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, Axcell Kicillof, was with the Peronist. Fernández described the serious situation in the country, while Milei –on the other end– visited the livestock exhibition at the Sociedad Rural, the eternal coup-monger that brings together the largest and richest rural producers.
In the Thursday night session in the Senate, Peronists and radicals voted for the Law of Educational Financing in favor of universities, a decision that Milei warned she would veto. Students and teachers, unions, social and political organizations announced that they are preparing a march as important as what happened in this capital on April 23.
Milei blamed the Kirchnerism (Peronism) to radicalism and journalism of this decision of Congress, and warned that they are responsible for Any event that occurs until SIDE is properly funded.
Fernández de Kirchner – twice president, and vice president of Alberto Fernández’s government – greeted the senators who approved the educational financing law, maintaining that Very few mediocre people have criticized the creation of universities in the suburbs. It is because they have always seen the country from a helicopter or through the rearview mirror, and have not understood the diverse and profound realities that our country has..
The former president made a speech full of criticism against Javier Milei’s economic proposals, focusing on his idea of coin competition and the impact on the middle class.
We went into deflation, companies went bankrupt, everything is a disasterhe said, describing the possible consequences of this government’s policies, including the goal of extracting the middle class’s savings in dollars.
He (Milei) dreams of monetization… spitting out the dollars they have savedand explained that this strategy seeks “that Argentines use their dollars to pay expenses, insurance, schools, and prepaid medical plans, thus maintaining their standard of living. (…) since he did not get the dollars for the dollarization that he had promised, he no longer says dollarization, but currency competition,” recalling that Milei said that the amount of dollars will be so big that we will be able to close the Central Bankto eliminate inflation by remonetizing the economy.
But the fun is that people eat.he said, a situation that is not happening. He also warned of the lack of medicines and essential products, which is part of the extremely serious situation that is being experienced in Argentina.
