Jazz is back at Casa Fernando Pessoa, in Campo de Ourique. The Desassossego terrace will be the stage for musicians from Hot Club Portugal, who promise to liven up the atmosphere every Thursday in July, starting at 7 pm.

The programming, with curated by Bruno Santos, it features several duos. Sara Serpa (vocals) and André Matos (guitar) opened the hostilities on July 4th.

The duo composed by Margarida Campelo (piano) and Bruno Santos (guitar) play on July 11; Carlos Barreto (double bass) and Ricardo Toscano (saxophone) on July 18. The program closes with Masha Soeiro (piano) and Taras Kuznetsov (piano), on July 25.

The shows are free to enter, subject to the venue’s capacity — that is, the Desassossego restaurant. During (or after) the live performances, you can order one of the bestsellers on the menu.

Shakshuka Maria (€9.50), a mix of sweet potato, fresh spinach, roasted vegetables and poached eggs, covered in a peanut and coconut sauce, is one of them. Salads and bowls (up to €13.50) — with chicken, cod, beef, octopus or shrimp — accompanied by different sauces from Africa to Asia, are other options.

As for the other options, the brunch menu includes dishes from all over the world, such as the Hash Brown with piri-piri chicken (€10) served roasted, with vegetables and pepper sauce. But there is also no shortage of pancakes, croissants and other breakfast classics.

From 3pm onwards, the snacks come into play. There are several options to share, including Portuguese classics with an international twist. Truffled burrata with cherry tomatoes (€8) and stuffed aubergine (€7.50) are just two options. “We’re preparing some surprises and one of them is baked cod with homemade pesto,” he says.

When it comes to drinks, the stars are the cocktails created by Sara Barreto. The Mary Ann Smith Jade (€9), with gin, pennyroyal liqueur, lemon and green apple, is one of the highlights. Fans of margaritas should order the Pyrus Gapsar (€9). Both are named after the owners’ dogs who often visit the place. The drinks menu also includes the house beer — the artisanal Dois Corvos — and wines from different regions of the country.
