Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron yesterday advocated the suspension of arms shipments to Israel, as a measure of pressure for that country to cease its military campaign in Gaza. Now the priority is that we return to a political solutionstated the president, and added: We condemn with the utmost firmness the Hamas terrorist attack of October 7, 2023, and we recognize Israel’s right to defend itself, but it must do so as a democracy, respecting international and humanitarian rights.

Macron made these statements in an interview with the France Inter radio station, in which he denounced that the Israeli government seems to ignore the mediation efforts of the international community.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the claims of Macron and other leaders of nations who called for stopping the delivery of weapons to Tel Aviv. Israel will win with or without your supporthe said in a pre-recorded video released by his office.

As Israel fights against the forces of barbarism led by Iran, all civilized countries should firmly support Israel. However, President Macron and other Western leaders are now calling for arms embargoes against my government. They should be ashamedNetanyahu said in a statement.

The premier also questioned: Is Iran imposing an arms embargo on Hezbollah, the Houthis, Hamas and their other proxies? Of course notHe also recalled that the three groups have the support of Tehran and are part of the so-called axis of resistance against Israel.

The United Kingdom Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, noted his deep concern given the recent attacks by Tel Aviv against medical centers in Lebanon, especially in the south where four hospitals ceased operations as a result of the fighting and the rest are saturated.

The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, who condemned the abominable acts of the Hamas attack on Israel, perpetrated a year ago, regretted that the war that followed those terrible events continue to destroy lives and inflict profound human suffering on the Palestinians in Gaza, and now on the people of Lebanon.
