Gaza. Palestinian Health Minister Majed Abu Ramadan yesterday called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to allow for the implementation of a polio vaccination campaign. It is expected to begin in the coming days with 1.5 million doses for children under 10 years of age, he said a day after the first case was detected in the enclave in a 10-month-old baby. The presence of a single case of polio could indicate the existence of many others that have not been detected.he explained in a statement released by the official Palestinian news agency, WAFA. Yesterday, the official also indicated that there are two other suspected cases not confirmed in children living in two governorates of the enclave. The first phase will use 1.2 million type 2 polio vaccines and will continue with a second protocol that will include the use of another 400 thousand doses.
