Some 3,000 retail traders, drivers and university students protested yesterday in Santa Cruz, the most prosperous region of Bolivia, and in La Paz, to demand that the government of Luis Arce resolve the shortage of fuel and dollars. Approximately every two months there is a shortage of diesel and gasoline, whose prices to the public are subsidized, which has depleted international reserves. Meanwhile, the dollar is quoted on the black market up to 50 percent above the official parity.
