Gedaref, Sudan. The paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) murdered at least 124 people in a village in El Gezira last Friday in Sudan, activists reported, in one of the deadliest incidents in Sudan. an 18-month war, and the largest of a wave of attacks in the state.
Following the surrender of senior RSF officer Abuagla Keikal to the army last Sunday, activists claimed that paramilitary forces carried out attacks in the village of Al-Sireha, in the north of his home state, killing civilians and displacing thousands of people.
Images shared on social media by the committee and others showed dozens of bodies wrapped for burial and mass graves dug.
UN denounces atrocious crimes
The UN humanitarian coordinator for Sudan, Clementine Nkweta-Salami, regretted the escalation of violence and denounced heinous crimes against civilians during the offensive launched by the RSF.

For its part, the Unit to Combat Violence against Women in Sudan, a government body, said in a statement that it had received reports that soldiers from the Rapid Support Forces had raped women in villages in Gezira as a tactic to humiliate men and expel people from the area.
