Moscow. Russia yesterday condemned the recent attacks launched by Israel against targets in Syria, where the army bombed a military position in the midst of rising tensions.
We categorically condemn such irresponsible actions, which increase the likelihood of an escalation of the armed conflict in the Middle East, pushing the region into a dangerous abyss. We urge the Israeli leadership to abandon forceful actions against Syria.said Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Israel reported yesterday that it had launched an offensive against a military post in the Tasil area, in southern Syria, in response to a projectile fired last Thursday from that country against territory in northern Israel, in the Golan Heights region.
Also yesterday, Tehran firmly rejected US accusations of alleged use of Iranian weapons by Houthi rebels against ships sailing in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, claiming that this is an attempt to cover up their aggression against Yemen.
