Russia evacuates dozens of civilians from Kursk region in the face of Ukrainian attacks

kyiv. Russia declared a state of emergency yesterday federal emergency in the Kursk region, following a large-scale Ukrainian incursion, while it was also under attack from armed drones.

The Russian Defense Ministry said reinforcements were on their way to the region to counter Ukrainian military action, and that it had deployed several rocket launchers, artillery guns, tanks and tracked vehicles, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

Dozens of people arrived in Moscow yesterday after the arrival of the first trains with evacuees from the Kursk region: the war camesaid the displaced.

Meanwhile, 55 injured people, including eight minors, remain in hospitals; 12 of those hospitalized are in serious condition, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said.

Russian authorities in charge of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, located in southeastern Ukraine but under the control of Moscow’s forces, have denounced an attack by the Ukrainian army on the city of Energodar, without causing damage to the nuclear facilities.

Russia has notified the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) of the situation at the Kursk nuclear power plantthe Russian permanent mission to international organizations in Vienna posted on its Telegram channel.

Following the attack, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi yesterday called in a statement to exercise maximum restraint to avoid a nuclear accident with the potential for serious radiological consequenceswhose effects can affect large regions.
