Dubai. So far in 2024, Saudi Arabia has carried out the highest number of executions for a similar period in 30 years, after yesterday the authorities announced that they applied the capital punishment to three people, and that the total, so far of the year, amounts to 198 death sentences carried out, according to a count by the AFP news agency.
This Persian Gulf monarchy, with a population of 37 million people, is the third country that carried out the most executions during 2023, after China and Iran, according to the non-governmental organization Amnesty International, which has been keeping an annual record since 1990.
