London. A man died and hundreds of thousands of people in Britain and Ireland were left without power and millions were warned yesterday to stay indoors as strong winds and heavy rain hit the region. Gusts of up to 150 kilometers per hour were recorded as authorities issued a rare emergency alert by telephone to about 3 million homes in Wales and south-west England early on Saturday.
