Bogotá. The Colombian government and the National Liberation Army guerrilla announced an agreement for an extension technique of the ceasefire that expired at midnight yesterday.

Both parties accepted the proposal of the United Nations (UN) and the Colombian Episcopal Conference to extend the cessation of hostilities for a few more weeks in order to avoid a resumption of the conflict while a solution is sought to the serious crisis facing the peace process, which is at a standstill without the approval of a roadmap for negotiations.

We are aware that time is running out to prepare the necessary conditions for the new extension and for this reason, we agree with you on the option of making a technical extension of the ceasefire that will allow us to develop the meeting of the heads of delegations.the government noted.

The government delegation also expressed its willingness to attend the extraordinary meeting that the UN and the Church are seeking to organize so that the two parties can settle their differences and resume the process, which has taken years.

They demand security for the demobilized

Colombia’s Constitutional Court has ordered the Defense and Interior Ministries to strengthen the security of demobilized guerrillas under the 2016 peace agreement signed between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrilla group.

He also requested a report on the current situation of security measures in areas of southern Amazonia, the northwest, southwest, northeast, central east and Orinoquia, after risks for the demobilized community were detected in this last area, in Miravalle.

The court noted that, despite having sent information to the special investigation unit (UEI) of the prosecutor’s office on complaints and criminal conduct against the population that signed the agreement, there are still no relevant judicial actions, such as charges, accusations or convictions, that would account for a true clarification of these events and the criminal phenomena in each of these territories.the Court warned.

He also called on the Ministry of the Interior to submit reports on progress in guaranteeing protection for the signatories of the peace agreement and on the public policy in place in this regard.
