Madrid. One of the most deeply rooted social problems in Spain is the huge population of migrants without proper papers, who work and in some cases even contribute to the public treasury, but do not have the documents in force to be full citizens.
The Spanish Executive, chaired by the socialist Pedro Sánchez, approved yesterday a reform of the immigration law that opens the door to the regularization of around 900 thousand people and will be done in stages year by year.
The reform went ahead in the Council of Ministers, reported the Minister of Inclusion and Social Security, Elma Saiz, who did not hide the urgency that the Spanish productive system has for more workers to guarantee the solvency of the economic model and the future payment of the pensions.
“We want to make it easier for foreigners to get a job appropriate to their professional profile,” explained Saiz, who assured that Spain is today, Luckily, a country of opportunities. Before, our young people emigrated, today we are a pole of attraction.
The new law will also create a specific section that includes both short-term and long-term visas, to simplify procedures and delimit the powers between consulates and immigration offices.
Another novelty is the regulation of the job search visa, for which its validity is extended from three to 12 months, with the aim that foreign companies get a job appropriate to their professional profile, at the same time, companies find the professionals they need.
Permanence
The socialist minister also highlighted that the new regulation has five modalities of roots: social, socio-training, socio-labor, family and second chance roots.
The novelty is that they are homogenized and the time spent in Spain is reduced from three to two years. The requirements to be met are made more flexible and you are enabled to work not only as an employee, but also as a self-employed person from the very beginning.
The Spanish government estimates that today there are about 210 thousand people with authorization for roots. We have estimated that with this reform 300 thousand people can be regularized per year over the next three years. A prosperous society must know how to train and attract talentSaiz highlighted.
The kings visit Valencia
Three weeks after the torrential rains that devastated part of the Valencian Community, the kings of Spain, Felipe and Letizia, returned to the most affected towns. Unlike the previous visit, in which dozens of outraged neighbors attacked them and the presidents of Spain and Valencia, Pedro Sánchez and Carlos Mazón, on this occasion the monarchs were received with applause.
The one who the victims did criticize during the visit was the Valencian president, Mazón, to whom they snapped: How you hide in the crowd! Go down into the mud, put on your boots and go downwhile they once again demanded his resignation.
