On the occasion of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the incessant pain of searching for a loved one is a reality in Colombia. Even though the confrontations between the State and the guerrilla ended in 2016, the number of missing people increases with the years, the International Committee of the Red Cross warned yesterday.
More than 1,730 cases of missing persons between 2016 and July 2024 have been documented. For example, Eliana Berrío yesterday reported that her sister Claudia, 23, was missing five months ago and has destroyed her family without any answers from the authorities.
