San Salvador., The government of Guatemala yesterday described criminal judge Freddy Orellana’s decision to cancel the ruling Semilla Movement as mediocre and harmful to democracy. The Press Secretary of the presidency, Santiago Palomo, asserted that a judge lacks the powers to cancel a political group when there is a specific regime that regulates this aspect, that is, the electoral law and political parties. The deputies of this party have already presented appeals for protection before the Constitutional Court and an appeal before the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.
