Madrid. To the cry of Why are they still in Gaza?At least 500,000 people took to the streets of Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities yesterday in a new day of protests to demand that the government, headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reach an agreement for the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip. Thousands more people also took to the streets in other cities such as Jerusalem, Haifa, Kfar Saba, Beersheba, Netanya and Rishon Lezion.
Protesters gathered on Begin Street in Tel Aviv, in front of the headquarters of the nation’s armed forces, in one of the largest demonstrations since the October 7 attack.
The protests culminate a week of daily protests following the death of six hostages last weekend. Israeli soldiers recovered their bodies, indicating that they had been executed recently.
Stop the world and save everyone! either An unsigned agreement is murderthe protesters continued chanting.
The Hostage Families Forum was once again the convener of public protests in major Israeli cities, attended by former Israeli Chief of Staff Moshe Yaalon, who also served as Defense Minister under current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Yaalon was at the rally in Rehovot, central Israel, and carried a banner with the message: Until they are home we will be on the streets.
Also yesterday, tens of thousands of people demonstrated in London to call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and there was a small pro-Israeli demonstration in the British capital.
