UN: famine in Gaza imminent

Tel Aviv., The United Nations (UN) warned that more than 2 million people are now trapped in Gaza with little access to food and without access to drinking water, the Qatari news network Al Jazeera reported yesterday.

Food is scarce and famine is imminent. Most of Gaza’s water supply is not drinkable. With nowhere to go, families live in abandoned houses or outdoorsdeclared the United Nations, which launched a call for help on social networks.

Tareq Abu Azzoum, an Al Jazeera reporter, testified that families have spent days living solely on drinking water and dates.

On the ground, at least 48 Palestinians were killed in Gaza in the 24 hours prior to the reports of the various attacks in Nuseirat, Khan Yunis, Beit Lahiya and Jabaliya, while Israel intensified its bombings in the besieged territory.

The total toll since the beginning of the war against the enclave rose to 44,330 deaths, reported the Gaza Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Housing Minister, the far-right Yitzchak Goldknopf, assured that he analyzed some areas of Gaza where he wants the authorities to rebuild housing buildings, amid the plans promoted by several members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. to transfer settlers to the Palestinian enclave again.

Official applauds

Goldknopf visited an area near the Gaza border, along with Daniella Weiss, director of the Nachala Settlements Movement, who applauded the ultra-Orthodox minister for coming to the area and observe future settlement locations in Gaza.

Weiss recently entered Gaza to supervise places where these constructions could begin once the offensive against the strip ends, although the international community has expressed its rejection of this possibility of extending or even maintaining the occupation.
