Famine is widespread in several war-torn areas of Sudan and will continue to affect the affected population for at least the next two months, according to a report on food insecurity released yesterday, the United Nations (UN) said. The armed conflict, which has been intensifying for 15 months, has severely hampered humanitarian access and pushed parts of North Darfur into famine, particularly in the Zamzam camp for internally displaced persons.warned the Famine Review Committee of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification.
