At least two dead and 30 injured caused Russian attacks yesterday in Kharkiv, the second most important city in Ukraine, regional authorities reported; Meanwhile, Russian troops claimed the capture of two more towns in the east of that nation, where they have not stopped advancing for weeks towards the strategically valuable city of Pokrovsk.
Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine and near the Russian border, has been hit by relentless shelling for months.

Ukraine also reported civilian deaths in the south and east.

Moscow-installed authorities in eastern Ukraine said a Ukrainian drone strike killed two people in a village near the front line.
Denis Pushilin, head of the Russian-occupied Donietsk region, said two men, aged around 40 and 60, died in the town of Zaitseve.
The town is north of Gorlivka, a city that has been under the control of pro-Russian separatists since 2014.
Moscow invaded the former Soviet republic in February 2022.
For now, the Russian forces maintained their advance. The units of the Southern group have continued advancing and liberated the town of Zorianin the eastern Donietsk region, the Russian army stated in a statement.
