In Venezuela, the electoral process is digital, there are no paper ballots or ballot boxes. The ballot box is the electronic machine and the counting is automatic. When the polling stations close, the software adds up the votes and gives the result; vote by vote is not counted as in most countries. The final tally sheet is the result of the sum given by the machine. The members of the table, as well as the voluntary witnesses, sign the tally sheets printed on security paper, with an alphanumeric code, which identifies the machine that issues it and a QR code, which contains the information of the sheet.
Political parties – as well as the National Electoral Council – know the alphanumeric code contained in each voting machine.
