Washington. The United States announced yesterday a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 1.7 billion dollars, which includes anti-aircraft defense munitions and artillery that kyiv has insistently requested to confront a new Russian offensive.

At least $200 million worth of equipment is already in the U.S. military’s stockpile and is headed for the battlefield, while another $1.5 billion will be distributed in new orders that will take longer to reach Ukraine, the Defense Department said.

The package includes artillery cartridges, ammunition for precision rocket launchers Himars and anti-tank weapons, among other items.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted on social media that he was Deeply grateful with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, and Congress for their support.

The announced aid includes items that are essential to strengthening Ukrainian defenses, as well as funding to maintain equipment sent by the United States.he added.
