The Mercado do Bom Sucesso in Porto remains true to its origins, despite recent renovations that have made it more modern in 2021. This iconic venue was classified as a Monument of Public Interest in 2011 and, this July, will offer free concerts featuring Italian, French and Brazilian music for those looking for entertainment without spending a lot of money, as entry is free.
The initiative is called “Há Música no Mercado” (There’s Music in the Market) and will bring entertainment to the area on July 3, 8, 16 and 30. The main stage, located on the ground floor, will have individual sessions from 8 pm to 9 pm. The first concert will be by the duo “So Nice”, with vocals accompanied by guitar and percussion. Drums will be a highlight of the performances, and two DJs have been invited to liven up the atmosphere with the best hits of the summer.
“Mercado Bom Sucesso is a gastronomic meeting point, but also a space to socialize with family or friends. By promoting events like this, the market not only provides an enriching entertainment experience, but also reinforces its role as a dynamic cultural hub in the community,” said the Market’s director, Marco Massano.
In addition to the musical moments, visitors can enjoy a refreshing drink, ice cream and a variety of gastronomic options offered by the 40 restaurants and shops present, such as Gelataria Neveiros or Os Croquetes. From snacks to full meals with meat, fish and seafood, it is also possible to find sweets. The space has capacity for 299 people indoors and 238 outdoors, also offering Wi-Fi and charging points for mobile phones and other electronic devices.
